Aslan's Christy Dignam is in “good spirits” and is on the “right road to recovery”, the band’s manager has said.
The Crazy World singer – who has been battling a rare blood disorder called amyloidosis since 2013 – left fans concerned after he was hospitalised. It forced the band to cancel its long-awaited 40th anniversary show in Dublin’s 3Arena earlier this month.
But Christy’s manager Denise McCormack rushed to assure fans he is “in good form” and is on the right road to recovery but continues to remain in hospital. She said: “He’s doing OK. He’s still in hospital at the moment but he’s on the right road.

“He’s resting and with this new treatment now, there’s loads of different bits they have to monitor him with. He’s in good form, good spirits.
“Aslan are dying to get back out there again. Look, it happened but it was best that it happened that week and it wasn’t something that happened when we were in the 3Arena.”
The band’s manager rushed to clarify that Christy didn’t collapse but took a reaction to new medication he is on. She added: “He didn’t collapse. Just with the treatment he was on, there were some side effects to it. It was a reaction that he had, he wouldn’t have been well enough.
“But he was in hospital getting his check-up and it happened there. He was in the right place. But he’s in good form.”
Ms McCormack said the band are also in talks to reschedule their postponed 3Arena date and will hopefully make an announcement soon.
She added: “We don’t know [when Christy will be out of hospital]. Obviously, the important part is to keep getting him checked.
“He’s on the right road. It’s day by day. It always has been.
“We’re just looking at suitable dates that will work and will tie into everything. When it’s confirmed, we will announce it and let people know.”
The 3Arena gig was due to be the band’s biggest show of their career to date, celebrating 40 years since they formed in 1982.
