Asian Games: With 18 gold medals, India achieve historic first in 72 years

NEW DELHI: Out on a medal hunting spree at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, India produced a historic feat on Wednesday, registering their best-ever outing at the continental event as the athletes took the overall medal count to a staggering 81 so far -- the highest ever.

With a total of 12 medals in multiple disciplines, led by athletics events on Day 11, India surpassed their previous best total of 70 medals of Jakarta and Palembang Games in 2018.
