India will have another packed day at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya on Wednesday, September 23, with medal opportunities spread across shooting, weightlifting, fencing, swimming and other disciplines. Some of India's biggest names, including double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker and weightlifting star Mirabai Chanu, will be in action.
Bhaker will compete in the women's 10m air pistol qualification from 6:15 am IST, alongside Esha Singh and Suruchi Inder Singh. The individual final is scheduled for 9 am, subject to qualification. The Indian trio will also be involved in the team event.

Mirabai Chanu will then take the spotlight in the women's 49kg weightlifting final at 10 am. Gyaneshwari Yadav will compete in the women's 53kg final at 1:30 pm, giving India two medal events in weightlifting.
The Indian men's badminton team will also be in action in a crucial semifinal against China at 11:30 am. India had already secured a medal by reaching the last four, with the semifinal determining whether the team will play for gold or bronze.
Manu Bhaker leads India's shooting schedule
The shooting range will be among the main areas of attention on September 23. Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh and Suruchi Inder Singh will compete in the women's 10m air pistol qualification at 6:15 am.
The individual final is scheduled for 9 am, provided the Indian shooters qualify. The three will also compete in the team event.
India will have further medal opportunities in skeet. Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Raiza Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan are scheduled in the women's skeet competition, while Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Bhavtegh Singh Gill and Mairaj Ahmad Khan will compete in men's skeet.
The women's skeet final is scheduled for 11 am and the men's skeet final for 12:30 pm, subject to Indian qualification.
Mirabai Chanu eyes medal in 49kg
Mirabai Chanu will compete in the women's 49kg Group A final at 10 am.
The weightlifting event is one of India's confirmed medal opportunities on the day. Gyaneshwari Yadav will later compete in the women's 53kg Group A final at 1:30 pm.
Both events will be closely followed as India looks to add to its medal tally in Aichi-Nagoya.
India vs China in badminton semifinal
India's men's badminton team faces China in the semifinal at 11:30 am.
The Indian team has already secured a medal by reaching the last four. The semifinal will determine whether India progresses to the gold-medal match or competes for bronze.
The squad includes Lakshya Sen, Ayush Shetty, HS Prannoy, Kidambi Srikanth, Tharun Mannepalli and the doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty. The tie is one of the biggest team events on India's September 23 schedule.
Women's hockey takes on Thailand
At 11:30 am, India's women's hockey team will face Thailand in a Pool B match.
The fixture comes at the same time as the men's badminton semifinal, making it another important team event for Indian sport fans to track during the middle of the day.
Roshibina Devi in wushu semifinal
Roshibina Devi will compete in the women's Sanda 60kg semifinal from 2:30 pm onwards.
She is scheduled to face Indonesia's Thania Kusumaningtyas. A victory would take the Indian wushu athlete into the gold-medal contest.
Swimming, fencing and rowing keep India busy
Indian athletes will also compete across several events from the early morning.
Rohit Benedicton and Sajan Prakash will compete in the men's 100m butterfly heats at 6:42 am, while Aneesh Sunil Kumar Gowda and Vedaant Madhavan will contest the men's 200m freestyle heats at 7:03 am.
If they qualify, the corresponding finals are scheduled for 1:38 pm and 1:54 pm respectively.
Fencing will feature Naorem Mina Devi and Joys Ashitha Stalinraj in women's foil, while Gisho Nidhi K.P. and Karan Singh will compete in men's sabre.
India will also have several rowers in action across single sculls, double sculls, pairs, fours and quadruple sculls heats throughout the day.
Kabaddi, boxing and squash
India's women's kabaddi team will face Iran in a Group A preliminary match at 8:30 am, followed by the men's team taking on Bangladesh at 9:45 am.
In boxing, Ankush is scheduled to face Hamsa Vogel of Bahrain in the men's 80kg round of 16 from 8:30 am onwards.
Squash will also see Indian representation, with Abhay Singh facing Thailand's Arkaradet Arkarahirunya at 10:30 am. Tanvi Khanna will take on South Korea's Kim Dami at 11:15 am, while Veer Chotrani faces Sri Lanka's Mohamed Shamil Mukthar Wakeel at noon.
