Asia Argento and Melvil Poupaud have been announced as the stars of the upcoming French crime thriller, 'Stronger Than the Devil.' The film, written and directed by Graham Guit, will be pitched for the first time at the European Film Market, which is part of the Berlin Film Festival. All Rights Entertainment, a film sales agency based in Hong Kong, Paris, and Los Angeles, has acquired the rights to the project.
Production for 'Stronger Than the Devil' is set to begin later this month, with the finished film expected to be completed by autumn. The story follows Valentin, a man with a troubled past who is attempting to start anew. He reunites with his estranged son Joseph and Joseph's girlfriend Alice after years of separation. However, what initially appears to be a heartwarming reunion takes a dark turn when Valentin's dangerous acquaintances, JP and Mila, arrive with sinister intentions.
The cast of the film also includes Marine Vacth, Nahuel Pérez Biscayart, Raika Hazanavicius, Julia Chen, and Harpo Guit. Rock Stone Films is handling the production, and certain French rights have already been pre-sold to Canal Plus, a pay-TV group.
Graham Guit, the director, expressed his belief in the power of genre cinema to confront and explore human fears and limitations. He described 'Stronger Than the Devil' as a brutal film that will not shy away from humor, ultimately ending on a note of ironic hope.
In addition to 'Stronger Than the Devil,' All Rights Entertainment has acquired two other films. One is the completed Malaysian title, 'Extinction,' a family adventure-comedy about a boy who embarks on a heroic mission to save an endangered forest tiger. The other acquisition is 'Kai,' a Spanish-Peruvian comedy action adventure currently in pre-production. The film tells the story of a girl who discovers she is the daughter of a shaman and sets out to acquire magical powers for herself.
'Stronger Than the Devil' and the other two films represent All Rights Entertainment's diverse portfolio, which has previously included animation titles. The company continues to expand its reach in the film industry, bringing unique and compelling stories to audiences worldwide.
