Ashley Road crash in Bristol injures pedestrian as car 'deliberately driven' at him

A car was deliberately driven at a pedestrian in an inner-city Bristol neighbourhood yesterday (April 23), police say.

The victim, a 23-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment after the incident on Ashley Road just before 3am on Saturday. He has since been discharged, police have said.

Officers are now investigating this incident along the busy road running through St Pauls and Montpelier, and Avon and Somerset Police has now released a statement.

A spokesperson said: "We’re investigating an incident in which a car was deliberately driven at a pedestrian on Ashley Road, Bristol, at just before 3am on Saturday (23 April). The victim, a 23-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged."

Det Insp Amanda Wylde said: “We carried out a number of enquiries at the scene, including forensic enquiries, and officers are continuing to review CCTV footage from around the area.

“We’ve located what we believe was the vehicle involved and are now prioritising identifying and locating the occupant(s) who were inside at the time. We’d like to reassure the local community that we believe this is an isolated incident.
