Former England left back Ashley Cole has been announced as an assistant coach alongside interim manager Lee Carsley by the English Football Association (FA). Cole, who represented England over 100 times from 2001 to 2014, participated in the 2002, 2006, and 2010 World Cups, as well as the 2004 and 2012 European Championships.
Joining Cole and Carsley is Joleon Lescott, another former England player, and Tim Dittmer, the FA's head of coaching. This trio previously collaborated with Carsley during the 2023 under-21 Euro-winning campaign.
Carsley assumed the role of England's interim coach for the upcoming Nations League campaign following Gareth Southgate's decision to step down. The Euro 2024 finalists are scheduled to face Ireland on September 7th, followed by a home match against Finland three days later.
