Trophy-hunter Will Ashcroft expects the Brisbane Lions' leadership group to have a say in the club's next coach after Chris Fagan shocked the best-and-fairest winner with his sudden resignation.

After claiming a third-straight premiership, Fagan confirmed on Thursday he wouldn't complete his contract and return for an 11th season at Springfield next year.
