A brawl broke out at the self service checkout area at Asda's Bootle store on Tuesday evening as horrified shoppers watched on.
A video, shared on social media, and since viewed thousands of times shows several people crashing into security gates at the till area. Staff are seen attempting to break up the fight, which took place at around 7pm.
A spokesperson for Asda confirmed the matter was reported to Merseyside Police. Several people can be heard screaming and shouting shortly after the fight is broken up.

Merseyside Police has since confirmed that three people have been arrested. Officers were called to Asda on Strand Road at around 7.15pm.
A 24-year-old woman, from Bootle, was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of cannabis. As of 3.30pm on Wednesday, March 29, she remained in custody.
Two men, aged 37, from Litherland and aged 26 from Bootle, were also arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of cannabis. Police confirmed the men have been conditionally bailed pending further enquiries.
