Asda shoppers say the budget supermarket has already "won Christmas" as they react to the retailers newly released 2022 festive advert featuring Will Ferrell as Buddy the Elf.
The newly-released advert follows Buddy the Elf as he navigates a trial shift at Asda and it has gone down a storm with shoppers who have so boldly claimed "John Lewis has no chance."
In the advert he much-loved character, from the iconic Christmas film Elf, is on a trial shift at Asda but instead finds himself distracted by all the Christmas goodies in store getting himself into a spot of bother.

However, in true Buddy the Elf style he pulls it out the bag by decking out the entire shop floor in fairy lights and Christmas decorations ultimately bagging himself the role.
The clever ad uses original footage from the film to make it look like Buddy is actually inside an Asda store, using popular festive song Santa Clause is Comin’ to Town as the soundtrack. It features classic lines from the film such as "It's not a costume. I'm an elf," and "the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear."
Of course it wasn't long before Twitter was flooded with comments as they expressed their delight with the Christmas advert with many suggesting it will be hard to top.
Social media user @JadeDonnelly11 said: "Can’t believe Asda has already won the Christmas advert competition" another Asda shopper @sophaltacc penned: "Nothing is beating @asda Christmas advert this year, just exceptional".
@SamLucy1988 wrote: "Hope John Lewis has got the best tear jerker advert lined up or it’s got no chance of beating this one! @asda are definitely #SpreadingChristmasCheer" while @KRIFFINGKENOBI added: "Asda have won Christmas this year.. I’m obsessed with their new advert pls, Elf is my absolute fave".

@EllieMason23 even went as far as to tweet: "The ASDA Christmas advert is the best ever. Might even start shopping there now." The John Lewis 2022 Christmas advert is yet to be released but it seems the retailer has some competition!
Asda's 2022 Christmas advert premieres on TV on Friday, November 4, at 8.45pm on ITV1, during the Coronation Street advert break.
