Asda recalls three lines of handbags as shoppers told to stop using them immediately

  • Asda has recalled three lines of women's handbags after they were found to contain excessive levels of DEHP, a chemical posing a serious risk to the reproductive system.
  • The affected items include the Front Pocket Xbody Bag (£10), the Opp Tote Bag (£16), and the Black Nylon Phone Bag (£8).
  • The Office for Product Safety and Standards has advised consumers to stop using the bags immediately and return them to any Asda store for a full refund.
  • The product recall follows a separate withdrawal of pasta products by Asda and Morrisons last month over potential listeria contamination.
  • Despite recent recalls, Asda sales are on track to grow for the first time in two years as part of a broader turnaround strategy led by Allan Leighton.
