Leeds United and AS Roma are reportedly 'closing in' on agreeing a deal that would see Diego Llorente join the Serie A side this month.
According to multiple reports from Italian media, Llorente is set to depart Elland Road in the final 48 hours of the transfer window. It is understood that the move would be an initial loan that includes an option to buy for Jose Mourinho's side.
However, the Athletic's Phil Hay reports that Leeds are set to recoup 'at least' the £18million that the Whites paid for the 29-year-old in what is set to be an obligation - not option - for Roma to sign the centre-back. Having only recently signed a contract renewal at the club, there appears to have been a change of heart within the Leeds hierarchy over the Spaniard's future.

The arrival of Max Wober has added depth to club's defence, with the German joining the likes of Robin Koch and club captain Liam Cooper. Given the latter's recent injury concerns, there may be fears that further fitness issues could leave Jesse Marsch's side short in the position for the remainder of the season.
Reports that teenager Diego Monteiro is due to join the club this window may go someway in easing those frustrations, yet it is understood that the Servette defender is likely to link up with the under-21s upon arrival.
As news broke of Llorente's imminent departure, fans took to social media to share their thoughts on the deal that came out of the blue.
