'As long as' - Brighton chief speaks out on Alexis Mac Allister future amid Liverpool interest

Brighton & Hove Albion owner Tony Bloom is not worried about losing some of the club’s ‘star players’ in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Bloom’s admission comes with many of his star names being linked with moves away from the Amex this summer. Two of those players who have been the subject of intense transfer speculation have been Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo.

Having taken the decision earlier this year to move away from a pursuit of the £130m-rated Jude Bellingham at Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool have earmarked Argentina international Mac Allister as one of their primary targets ahead of a critical summer at Anfield.

Liverpool, however, are already facing competition from top-four rivals Manchester United in their pursuit of the 2022 World Cup winner and recently-crowned Premier League champions City are now reportedly keen on the 24-year-old

But despite the continued speculation, Bloom, speaking on talkSPORT, isn't panicking about the prospect of losing his star names as he believes his Brighton side will still be able to compete next season.

He said: “It’s been a tremendous season. Roberto, the players and everyone involved has done absolutely superbly. We’re so delighted to finish sixth this season, Europa League.

“Tonight we came against the best team in the world and matched them. Perhaps we were the better side over the 90 minutes which is just so brilliant for myself, the fans and for the whole city.

“We’ll be able to compete on all levels next season even if we lose a couple of our star players. That happens at almost every club, we don’t worry about these things and as long as we get the right price for our players they will sometimes go.

“That happens across the board, we’re not at all worried about that and we look to come back stronger next season.”
