Nearly three months after an FDA advisory panel voted to ease restrictions on six unapproved peptides, the agency still has not issued a final decision. In the meantime, a KFF Health News investigation published Oct. 13 describes people who say BPC-157 and similar products left them with migraines, eye pain, fatigue, and months of anxiety.
The report also points to entries in the FDA's adverse event database. They include a 36-year-old woman hospitalized in December after taking BPC-157 for weight control and a skin condition, and a 48-year-old man who was hospitalized with a condition described as life-threatening after peptide use. These reports are voluntary and unverified, so they cannot prove a peptide caused the harm.
