Diablo 4's new Lord of Hatred DLC is here, but – perhaps to the surprise of no one – its initial launch hasn't exactly been the smoothest.
It didn't take long after the DLC's release for a telling statement to come from Blizzard on the official Diablo Twitter account. "We're aware that some players are currently experiencing issues accessing Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred," it said. "The team is actively investigating and working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We'll share updates here as we have them." And it only takes a quick glimpse at the likes of Reddit and Twitter to see why – many folks were stuck in lengthy login queues, unable to access Lord of Hatred at all.
"Has Blizzard ever had a successful launch of anything?" one unlucky player asks on the Diablo subreddit, sharing a screenshot of their painful 52-minute wait. "Billion dollar company and this happens every time they launch anything. Worse, I was actually playing when it kicked me out." Another responds: "Was just in the opening cutscene just to get kicked and put into a 105-minute queue." Yikes.

Unfortunately, lengthy queues haven't been the only issue. Others have been facing the annoying error code 300008, timing out their login attempts, and per Icy Veins, some have found the Talisman tab mysteriously missing, a problem Blizzard says will be "resolved in an upcoming update" (though for now, "players can resolve this by completing the quest solo on an alternate character").
Blizzard is also aware that Xbox users may not see their "Deluxe Edition and select Platinum products" available in-game, and advises them to go to the Xbox storefront to claim them, and knows that there's a progression blocker in the "She Sleeps Within You" quest, which it advises dealing with by quitting, reloading your character, and restarting the quest until it has an actual fix available. "We appreciate your patience with this," it adds.
At the very least, it should be noted that not everyone has been afflicted with login queue issues – one player on Reddit notes that they've been "blessed with hardly any issues on PS5 or PC," even wondering if this could be "the best Diablo launch ever" for Blizzard.
Around a couple of hours after Blizzard's statement about the game's queues, the devs shared an update saying that "we've made progress on the access issues impacting some Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred players," noting that "affected players should begin seeing improvement as fixes roll out," and it seems that was a success for some. "Literally by 5PM (1 hour after launch) they had fixed the server issues and they've been butter since. So yeah, this is a great launch," one fan says on Reddit.
With that said, it doesn't appear that Lord of Hatred's launch struggles are over. Even aside from the aforementioned quest progression bug and Xbox Deluxe Edition issue, more recent posts from the last couple of hours still show some players are struggling to log in, with one suggesting that the "servers are getting overloaded again."
At this point, it's safe to say that Diablo fans are used to this – some have even jokingly been discussing their favorite login error screens – but, once again, it's definitely dampening the launch, and frustrating those who were eager to dive in as soon as the DLC became available.
