Aryna Sabalenka coasts into French Open last eight

NEW DELHI: World number two Aryna Sabalenka delivered a dominant performance at the French Open, defeating American Emma Navarro 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the quarter-finals on Monday. Sabalenka's emphatic victory keeps her on track for her first title in Paris.

Despite Navarro's previous upset victory over Sabalenka at Indian Wells in March, the Belarusian took control early in the match, breaking Navarro's serve to love and securing another break to swiftly claim the first set in just 30 minutes.

Throughout the match, Sabalenka showcased her powerful baseline game, overwhelming Navarro with her aggressive play and relentless attack on the American's weaker second serve.

In the second set, Sabalenka continued her dominance, securing an early break with another impressive winner to take a 2-1 lead. Despite Navarro's efforts to change her tactics and hang on, Sabalenka maintained control and sealed the victory on her first match point.

With her unbeaten streak now extending to 11 consecutive matches at Grand Slam events, Sabalenka, the Australian Open champion, aims to add to her two Grand Slam titles. She now awaits the winner between Varvara Gracheva of France and teenager Mirra Andreeva in the quarter-finals.
