Dog owners have been warned about the threat posed to their pet by artificial grass as temperatures again head to the mid-30s in much of the country.
Dogs can struggle in the heat as much as people, and Dr Samantha Webster, a vet at Joii Pet Care, is warning owners with artificial grass in their garden about the danger it could pose to their pets. She says that it can be just as dangerous to leave their pet to run around in the garden as it is to take them out on a daytime walk.
She also advises against walking dogs in the mid-day sun during hot spells, saying owners should exercise their pets in the early morning or late evening when the sun is at its lowest.
