Falcons HC Arthur Smith comments on Drake London’s injury

The Atlanta Falcons offense came alive in the second half of Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans, but right as Drake London was starting to take off, the second-year wideout suffered a groin injury that kept him out for the rest of the game.

London finished with five catches for 55 yards before exiting Sunday’s loss to the Titans. On Monday, Falcons head coach Arthur Smith said London’s injury “wasn’t as bad as we thought,” per team reporter Tori McElhaney.

Smith wouldn’t commit to London’s Week 9 status but said the team would see how the former first-round pick fares in practice leading up to Sunday’s game against the Vikings.

In other injury news, defensive lineman Grady Jarrett has been ruled out for the season due to an ACL tear. Jarrett’s loss is devastating as he finally had some talent around him after years of being the only relevant Falcons defensive lineman.

The team is exploring all options but said Jarrett won’t be replaced by any single player. Atlanta has until the NFL’s Tuesday trade deadline to make a move.
