'Arson attack' investigation after former Manchester takeaway hit by fire

Police are investigating a suspected arson attack after an empty former takeaway was hit by fire overnight. Emergency services descended on Lane End Road, in Burnage, at around 11.30pm on Saturday night (January 7).

It followed a blaze at a former takeaway building, which was previously Chicken Cottage and most recently The Chicken Hub. Greater Manchester Police has today (Sunday) confirmed it is treating the fire as a suspected arson.

Officers have been in attendance at the scene today, along with investigators from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS). Detectives are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
