Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard believes that his side can do ‘something really special’ this season, with the Norwegian eyeing a historic trophy-winning campaign in North London.
Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal side return to continental action on Wednesday evening as they welcome Ligue 1 outfit Monaco to the Emirates in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Gunners head into the clash in strong form, unbeaten in each of their last six across all competitions, however they were forced to settle for a point at the weekend after playing out a bitterly disappointing 1-1 draw against Fulham.
It’s a result that leaves the North Londoners in third place in the English top-flight table, two points behind second place Chelsea and six points adrift of league leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand after the postponement of Saturday’s Merseyside derby due to Storm Darragh.
In Europe, meanwhile, Arsenal head into the week’s action in seventh place in the league phase table, primed for round-of-16 advancement, and captain Martin Odegaard is eyeing a historic trophy-winning campaign after missing out on the Premier League title to Manchester City by an agonising two points last term.
Martin Odegaard: Arsenal ‘Want To Win Everything’ This Season
Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference ahead of Monaco’s visit on Wednesday, Odegaard highlighted the importance of winning trophies to him and his teammates.
“If you do that [win trophies] then everyone will remember you because you write history and I think that’s the feeling from everyone in the squad and the team. We want to do something really special.
“We want to win everything basically – that’s the mindset of everyone. We want to win trophies, we want to win every time we play and we all share that mindset. We want to win and make sure the trophies come to the club.”

The Norwegian continued, touching on whether his side can achieve something special in Europe: “That’s the feeling in the squad. Everyone is believing so much in what we are doing and we have confidence in everything we do as a team.
“Last year we learned a few good lessons – we wanted to go all the way and we didn’t. We have to take those lessons and make sure we get better and learn from it.”
Arsenal are expected to be without several key players for their MD6 clash, with seven first-team players reportedly absent from training ahead of the clash on Tuesday afternoon.
Despite this, they remain heavily favoured among the UK’s best football betting sites to come out on top, priced at around 3/10, while a draw can be backed at 17/4 and a shock victory for the visitors is priced at 17/2.
