High-flying Arsenal returned to the top of the Premier League after an exciting win over Liverpool at Emirates Stadium. The Gunners went in front inside a minute on Sunday, with captain Martin Odegaard teeing up man of the match Gabriel Martinelli to stun Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Liverpool dominated much of the first half from there and deservedly equalised with Darwin Nunez’s first goal since the opening weekend of the season, though Bukayo Saka tapped home in the final minute before the interval to restore Arsenal’s lead. The hosts were much improved after the break though were pegged back again through Reds substitute Roberto Firmino.
Saka had the final say on a thrilling afternoon in north London, dispatching a penalty beyond Alisson after Thiago Alcantara fouled Gabriel Jesus to send Arsenal back above Manchester City at the Premier League summit.
