Arsenal vs Borussia Dortmund LIVE
Arsenal have been beaten by Borussia Dortmund in the Emirates Cup. Mikel Arteta’s side were slack defensively all afternoon at the Emirates Stadium and went in at the break two goals behind after brilliant finishes from Samuele Inacio and Konstantino Karetsas.
Ethan Nwaneri pulled one back after half-time, only for Joane Gadou to extend Dortmund’s lead again almost immediately. Viktor Gyokeres converted from the spot but Arsenal could not find a late equaliser, with Gabriel Martinelli’s stoppage-time strike ruled out for offside. As was planned before the match regardless of the result, a penalty shootout took place after the match. Arsenal won it 5-4 as Nwaneri lifted his spot-kick into the top corner to settle it.
Mikel Arteta will want to see a far better showing from his players in the next pre-season friendly against Como - managed by former Gunners captain Cesc Fabregas - and with a week to go until the Community Shield against Manchester City. With Mikel Arteta opting to slowly ease his World Cup stars back into action, Odegaard could get the same treatment as Kai Havertz, Viktor Gyokeres and Gabriel by playing 30 minutes in his first Gunners appearance of the summer.

Bruno Guimaraes is expected to be with the Arsenal squad today, but a debut is unlikely.
The Gunners announced the signing of the Brazil midfielder on Saturday in a deal worth £75million, to finally bring the summer saga to a close, and Guimaraes should be paraded in front of supporters before kick-off at the Emirates Stadium.
Guimaraes is still short of fitness after joining up with the Newcastle squad on Monday for their training camp in Spain as he was given a mandatory three-week break following his involvement for Brazil at the Word Cup.
