Arsenal vs Bayern Munich LIVE: Champions League result, latest updates and reaction after statement win

Arsenal vs Bayern Munich LIVE!

Arsenal are celebrating a statement win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League. The Gunners came out on top on Wednesday night in a blockbuster battle between arguably the two best teams in Europe so far this season, with Mikel Arteta’s substitutions working a treat as Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli both scored after the break alongside an impactful cameo from Riccardo Calafiori.

The two sides were level at half-time after a fascinating opening. The in-form Jurrien Timber expertly flicked home Bukayo Saka’s excellent corner to give Arsenal an early lead at a bouncing Emirates Stadium, only for Eberechi Eze to waste a glorious chance before Bayern hit back out of nowhere through 17-year-old sensation Lennart Karl, who was teed up wonderfully by Joshua Kimmich and ex-Arsenal forward Serge Gnabry.

Arsenal’s injury woes continued before the interval, losing Leandro Trossard to an apparent calf issue as Madueke was summoned from the bench, while Harry Kane was largely anonymous as Bayern suffered their first loss this season in any competition to lose ground to their opponents at the top of the league phase table. Follow Arsenal vs Bayern Munich live below!

Mikel Arteta's side are now the only team with a 100 per cent record in this season's Champions League.

A great performance in the second half, with Rice at the heart of it.

Full-time

What a second half and what a statement from Arsenal, who remain perfect in Europe and top the Champions League table now as well as the Premier League with a three-point cushion.

This is some team. A first loss of the season for Bayern in any competition.

What are the chances we see this game again in the latter stages?

93 mins: That just about sums up Bayern’s wretched second half as Kim fires high and wide after a free-kick.

Kompany looks very unhappy down on that touchline, and with good reason.

They are not used to this.

Bayern were pushing for another leveller in the game and being cheered on by the non-stop chanting of their travelling fans, but too late.

Martinelli rounds Neuer, who's had a shocker of a night, and rolls into an empty net. The game is as good as won by Arsenal now.

GOAL! Arsenal 3-1 Bayern Munich | Gabriel Martinelli 77'

Wednesday 26 November 2025 21:38 , George Flood

77 mins: Arsenal in absolute dreamland!

Another Arteta change pays off handsomely as a Bayern set-piece breaks down and Arsenal counter quickly, with Eze setting away Martinelli in behind Kimmich.

Neuer is an absolute mile outside his box and is totally done by a crucial touch from Martinelli, who then strokes into an empty net.

What a statement this is from Arsenal.

70 mins: Arsenal deservedly lead again with 20 minutes to go - and it’s an immediate impact from Calafiori!

Rice and Eze combine to tee up the Italian, whose excellent cross from the left is steered in at the back post by Madueke.

Arteta’s changes immediately pay off.

Arsenal 1-1 Bayern Munich

Wednesday 26 November 2025 21:28 , George Flood

67 mins: It is indeed Saka heading off. Has he picked up a knock?

Saka has been really good in this second half.

Arsenal’s stand-in skipper hands the captain’s armband to Rice.

Lewis-Skelly off for Calafiori. A wise move.

Arsenal 1-1 Bayern Munich

Wednesday 26 November 2025 21:27 , George Flood

Arsenal 1-1 Bayern Munich

Wednesday 26 November 2025 21:23 , George Flood

62 mins: Another glorious Arsenal chance as Rice is denied by the foot of Neuer and the rebound is just nudged away from Saka crucially by Laimer.

Bayern are a shambles at set-pieces.

The zonal set up is not working and Arsenal players are getting a run on the defenders every time.

Arsenal 1-1 Bayern Munich

Wednesday 26 November 2025 21:22 , George Flood

60 mins: Now Neuer pushes wide Mosquera’s header from point-blank range after a menacing Rice free-kick that bounced awkwardly in behind Kane.

Arsenal earned the free-kick after Upamecano fouled Madueke.

Arteta - on a yellow card himself, remember - appealed for a second booking for the Frenchman, to no avail.

Now Kompany is shown yellow.

Arsenal 1-1 Bayern Munich

Wednesday 26 November 2025 21:20 , George Flood

55 mins: A waste of a free-kick delivery from Kimmich as it’s straight into the arms of the grateful Raya.

Rice leads a swift Arsenal break and they have another corner.

Saka’s latest delivery from the right is headed away emphatically by Kane in front of Neuer.

Saka keeps the attack alive with a cross which is headed straight at Neuer by an unmarked Merino.

That was a good chance.

Arsenal 1-1 Bayern Munich

Wednesday 26 November 2025 21:13 , George Flood

52 mins: Merino comes within a whisker of connecting with the retaken corner before his shot is eventually off target after Timber’s lofted cross is headed away.

All square at the break. Arsenal took the lead after Timber headed home from a corner, but Bayern equalised with a lovely goal from Karl.

Visitors controlled possession, however Arsenal looked threatening and Eze went close to scoring.

Half-time

And breathe!

Level at the break in this Champions League blockbuster after Timber’s early header from an excellent Saka corner was cancelled out emphatically by teenage sensation Karl.

44 mins: Arsenal’s cries for a penalty are waved away after Upamecano’s nudge in the back on Madueke as he tried to head home a cross from the byline from close range.

Arsenal 1-1 Bayern Munich

Wednesday 26 November 2025 20:44 , George Flood

41 mins: Laimer pulls down Saka and receives a yellow card. Olise was lucky not to get one too a little earlier for a similar offence.

Needless.

Madueke comes on.

Arsenal 1-1 Bayern Munich

Wednesday 26 November 2025 20:39 , George Flood

35 mins: It’s real end-to-end fare now in a belting tie at the Emirates.

Bayern are in for a second, but Stanisic fires low and wide of the back post instead of playing in a frustrated Olise.

Arsenal living dangerously now and Trossard is down hurt.

Standard Sport’s Dom Smith at the Emirates Stadium

What a magnificent move from Bayern Munich, and from nowhere they are level.

It's their teen star Lennart Karl with it. Perfectly-weighted Kimmich long ball, deft lay-off from Gnabry.

Karl finishes confidently. Arsenal's lead has evaporated.

GOAL! Arsenal 1-1 Bayern Munich | Lennart Karl 32'

Wednesday 26 November 2025 20:34 , George Flood

32 mins: All square at the Emirates in the blink of an eye!

Kimmich’s fine long ball is perfectly cushioned into Karl by Gnabry, who got in behind Lewis-Skelly.

The 17-year-old makes no mistake as he blasts beyond Raya.

A penny for Eze’s thoughts right about now...

Arsenal 1-0 Bayern Munich

Wednesday 26 November 2025 20:33 , George Flood

29 mins: An absolutely exquisite touch from Eze, who nutmegs Upamecano for good measure.

Zubimendi gets it back to him in a dream Arsenal move, but Eze tries to square for Saka instead of shooting and a golden chance is lost.

It should be 2-0!

Arsenal 1-0 Bayern Munich

Wednesday 26 November 2025 20:29 , George Flood

25 mins: Bayern are fizzing the ball back to Neuer at a rate of knots here - a lesser goalkeeper might have let one of those slip past.

Raya snuffs out a brief flicker of danger at the other end.

Set-pieces are a strength of Arsenal's - and a weakness of Bayern's.

In the Bundesliga this season, six of their eight goals conceded have come from set-pieces.

Neuer is in no man's land, and Arsenal have absolutely forced it there with a superb corner. Saka's delivery is exquisite.

Neuer is perfectly overcrowded by bodies in red. Timber nods home. Simple, but quite some spectacle.

Arsenal 1-0 Bayern Munich

Wednesday 26 November 2025 20:26 , George Flood

24 mins: Kompany was not happy at all with Timber’s initial challenge on Neuer from that corner, but the officials are not interested.

Bayern are looking rattled now as Upamecano crashes into Mosquera and picks up the first yellow card of the evening.

GOAL! Arsenal 1-0 Bayern Munich | Jurrien Timber 22'

Wednesday 26 November 2025 20:23 , George Flood

22 mins: The tempo to this first half is quickening up nicely now as Zubimendi earns an Arsenal corner off Laimer and then gees up the crowd.

Saka’s excellent delivery from the right is flicked in ahead of Neuer by Timber.

Yet another Arsenal set-piece goal and the Emirates erupts!

Arsenal 0-0 Bayern Munich

Wednesday 26 November 2025 20:22 , George Flood

18 mins: A cheap foul given away by Lewis-Skelly on Olise, but Merino is there to clear Bayern’s free-kick delivery into the Arsenal box.

Olise now runs at Trossard and wins a corner, with a long, looping delivery nodded well wide of the back post by Upamecano.

Bayern did well there to spring the Frenchman free with a block, but he rather lost his bearings.

Arsenal 0-0 Bayern Munich

Wednesday 26 November 2025 20:19 , George Flood

17 mins: I think it was actually the ball that caught Saka in the face there and he’s cleaned up before briefly heading off.

He’ll be fine to continue.

Arsenal 0-0 Bayern Munich

Wednesday 26 November 2025 20:17 , George Flood

14 mins: A real chess match this at the moment, with Bayern repelling Arsenal’s intended low balls in behind for Trossard and Saka.

Now Neuer rushes out of his box to make a risky intervention, with Saka down after being caught in the face by the Bayern captain.

Arsenal 0-0 Bayern Munich

Wednesday 26 November 2025 20:14 , George Flood

12 mins: Boos for former Tottenham hero Kane every time he gets on the ball tonight.

The England captain will have expected that...

Arsenal 0-0 Bayern Munich

Wednesday 26 November 2025 20:14 , George Flood

Standard Sport’s Simon Collings at the Emirates Stadium

Bayern have had nearly 80 per cent possession in the first 10 minutes. Not many sides come to the Emirates and do that.

Arsenal 0-0 Bayern Munich

Wednesday 26 November 2025 20:12 , George Flood

10 mins: 76 per cent possession for Bayern in the opening 10 minutes but it is Arsenal who have looked more dangerous going forward so far.

Arsenal 0-0 Bayern Munich

Wednesday 26 November 2025 20:11 , George Flood

8 mins: Really encouraging stuff from Arsenal as Trossard is released by a fine pass and he tries to loft the ball over Neuer with Saka up in support.

Bayern are at sixes and sevens inside the box and can’t clear their lines as Trossard has a follow-up drive blocked.

He was clearly offside from the initial pass and the flag is finally raised.

Now a nice touch from Saliba, who can’t pick out a team-mate.

Good signs for the Gunners.

Arsenal 0-0 Bayern Munich

Wednesday 26 November 2025 20:08 , George Flood

6 mins: Saka rushes Laimer into a panicked clearance into touch and a long Arsenal throw-in from the right is seen away by Kane as Bayern look to counter swiftly.

Arsenal 0-0 Bayern Munich

Wednesday 26 November 2025 20:06 , George Flood

4 mins: Arsenal have a first chance to deliver the ball into the Bayern box after Tah’s rash foul on Eze.

Rice steps up from the right flank, the ball bouncing high and wide off the head of Saliba.

He was offside anyway.

Arsenal 0-0 Bayern Munich

Wednesday 26 November 2025 20:04 , George Flood

2 mins: A very confident start from Bayern, who are dominating possession during the opening exchanges and moving the ball around quickly and neatly.

Kane is dropping deep plenty already and teenager Karl with a couple of eye-catching passes.

Questions over Odegaard’s return after Eze derby statement

Wednesday 26 November 2025 19:35 , George Flood

There is no greater evidence of Arsenal’s squad depth this season than the circumstances surrounding Martin Odegaard’s return from injury, writes Simon Collings.

It was around this time last year that the Norwegian was also just returning from a spell on the sidelines.

Mikel Arteta’s solution during Odegaard’s absence had been to tear up his original game plan.

Starved of their chief playmaker, Arsenal shifted from a 4-3-3 formation to a 4-4-2 set-up.

Odegaard’s comeback involved him playing one minute off the bench at Inter Milan, before he started and played the full game against Chelsea.

Coincidentally, the Arsenal captain’s return this week once more sees a clash with a European heavyweight - on this occasion it is Bayern Munich - before another trip to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The circumstances around Odegaard’s return, however, are far different to a year ago.

Arteta limits Arsenal changes before Chelsea clash

Wednesday 26 November 2025 19:19 , George Flood

Standard Sport’s Simon Collings at the Emirates Stadium

I think there are a fair few Arsenal fans who would have preferred more changes than that, but Arteta usually goes stronger with his teams than you expect.

Interesting, though, that Ben White is not one of those to come into the side, even with Jurrien Timber's fine form.

Three Bayern changes as ex-Gunner Gnabry returns

Wednesday 26 November 2025 19:09 , George Flood

Vincent Kompany, meanwhile, makes three changes to the Bayern Munich team who hit Freiburg for six in the Bundesliga at the weekend.

Serge Gnabry has shaken off a knock suffered with Germany to start against his former club, with 17-year-old sensation Lennart Karl remaining in the attack alongside Harry Kane and Michael Olise with Luis Diaz suspended.

Konrad Laimer replaces Tom Bischof, while Joshua Kimmich returns in midfield at the expense of Leon Goretzka.

Chelsea loanee Nicolas Jackson is on the bench.

Odegaard on Arsenal bench as Mosquera and Lewis-Skelly come in

Wednesday 26 November 2025 19:04 , George Flood

Martin Odegaard returns to the Arsenal squad tonight for the first time since October 4 after recovering from a knee injury.

He takes a seat on the bench, where he is joined by the fit-again Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli, plus Piero Hincapie and Riccardo Calafiori.

The latter duo make way in defence for Cristhian Mosquera and Myles Lewis-Skelly in Mikel Arteta’s only changes from the north London derby on Sunday.

Arsenal set for first true test without Gabriel

Wednesday 26 November 2025 18:40 , George Flood

If Mikel Arteta is wondering what life without Gabriel may be like for Arsenal, then tonight’s meeting with Bayern Munich should give him the answer, writes Simon Collings.

Tottenham last Sunday did not provide any real clues, with Arsenal running out 4-1 winners and only conceding via Richarlison’s remarkable long-range strike.

Spurs had two shots on target all game and a grand total of four touches inside the Arsenal penalty area.

Bayern will be a completely different proposition, and there is no chance they will produce such a toothless showing.

Dowman scores brace as Munoz makes Arsenal history in UEFA Youth League

Wednesday 26 November 2025 18:29 , George Flood

Arsenal’s youngsters have already secured a brilliant 4-2 win over Bayern today in the UEFA Youth League, with the ultra-talented Max Dowman, 15, scoring a cracking goal as part of a memorable brace that further underlined his sky-high potential.

But the bulk of the headlines were stolen by a player even younger than Dowman in 13-year-old Luis Munoz, who became the youngest player ever to feature in the competition after coming off the bench.

The future looks very bright indeed for Arsenal.

Arsenal out to change narrative against Bayern

Wednesday 26 November 2025 18:00 , George Flood

The Emirates is looking resplendent tonight, just a couple of hours out from kick-off.

Bayern last visited in April 2024 in the Champions League quarter-finals, when Leandro Trossard rescued a 2-2 draw for Arsenal after goals from Bukayo Saka, Harry Kane and Serge Gnabry.

Bayern won the second leg 1-0 thanks to Joshua Kimmich’s second-half header.

Tonight will be the 15th Champions League meeting between these two giants, with Arsenal winless in the last five dating back to a 2-0 home win in the group stage in 2015, when Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud netted.

Three of Bayern’s last four wins in this fixture have been by a 5-1 scoreline.

Surely we won’t be seeing a repeat of that tonight...

Arteta: Bayern clash is 'great' test to see where Arsenal are

Wednesday 26 November 2025 17:47 , George Flood

Both sides could have hardly enjoyed better preparation for tonight’s huge game, with Arsenal demolishing arch-rivals Tottenham 4-1 in the north London derby on Sunday thanks to Eberechi Eze’s stylish hat-trick and Bayern smashing Freiburg 6-2 in the Bundesliga.

Mikel Arteta wants to see more of the same in what he believes will be a real opportunity and chance to show just how far his side have come.

"We have to make sure that we carry that energy tomorrow again to the stadium, to each individual and play with the same dominance, aggression, and efficiency against a top side," he said.

"This is the kind of game in the competition that we want to face and we've been very consistent.

"They have been as well and tomorrow is a great test for us to see where we are.

"Every opponent brings different challenges. Obviously they are in a great moment.

"The level of consistency they show in results, performances, in every metric that they have is very, very impressive. We know that.

"But as well it's a massive opportunity for us to show what we are capable of."

Arsenal vs Bayern Munich prediction

Wednesday 26 November 2025 17:37 , George Flood

Arguably the two best teams in Europe at the moment collide in what is an enormous game at the Emirates.

It is so hard to pick between Arsenal and Bayern, who have both been so dominant so far this season both at home and in Europe, scoring plenty of goals and conceding very few.

Bayern may previously have had the psychological edge given some of the humblings they have dished out in this fixture over the years, but this is a different Gunners team now with a far tougher mentality and resolve, not to mention their greatly improved quality and strength in depth under Arteta.

We anticipate an entertaining back-and-forth tussle not short on goalmouth action in which momentum swings sharply and frequently, resulting in a hard-fought share of the spoils and Harry Kane inevitably getting on the scoresheet at least once.

Draw, 2-2.

Bayern Munich team news: Luis Diaz suspended

Wednesday 26 November 2025 17:33 , George Flood

Bayern are without Luis Diaz, with the former Liverpool forward handed a three-match ban by UEFA following his tackle on Achraf Hakimi that saw him sent off after he had scored both goals in a statement 2-1 win over Champions League holders PSG in Paris earlier this month.

Ex-Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry and teenage sensation Lennart Karl both look to be fit after respective knocks as Vincent Kompany weighs up who best to replace Diaz in attack alongside the prolific Harry Kane and Michael Olise.

Joshua Kimmich and Hiroki Ito were both involved in the 6-2 thrashing of Freiburg in the Bundesliga at the weekend, while captain Manuel Neuer started after illness.

Bayern are still missing Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies as they continue to ramp things up after serious injury.

Arsenal will hope that Martin Odegaard can play some part in tonight's game, with manager Mikel Arteta saying at yesterday's pre-match press conference that they would have a meeting to decide the status of their influential captain after he was deemed not quite fit enough in the end to be involved in Sunday's 4-1 demolition of Tottenham in a one-sided north London derby.

Odegaard has not played since the win over West Ham in early October after suffering knee ligament damage on his return from a persistent shoulder injury.

This game comes too early for Viktor Gyokeres (hamstring) and Kai Havertz (knee), though Arteta is hopeful that the attacking duo will be in contention for another huge showdown with Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.

Arsenal were expected to find out after another scan today a clearer time frame for Gabriel's return from an adductor injury suffered playing for Brazil, with the centre-back set to miss a period of weeks.

Riccardo Calafiori shook off a hip issue to start against Spurs, while Noni Madueke came off the bench and Gabriel Martinelli was also included in the matchday squad after injury.

Gabriel Jesus is training fully after an anterior cruciate ligament rupture that has kept him out since January, though Arsenal plan to ease him back into action with a behind-closed-doors friendly and he isn't eligible for the league phase of the Champions League anyway.

Arsenal vs Bayern Munich live

Hello and welcome to Standard Sport's live coverage of Arsenal vs Bayern Munich as a massive week of heavyweight clashes in the Champions League continues.

Last night we saw stylish Chelsea vanquish 10-man Barcelona with ease at Stamford Bridge, but now the focus quickly switches from west to north London - where a certain Harry Kane is back in town.

Arguably the two best teams in Europe so far this season collide in a blockbuster showdown at the Emirates Stadium, both boasting 100 per cent records in this competition to date and respective dominant six-point title leads domestically.

It might still only be the league phase, but victory for either side this evening would send a serious statement of intent across the continent - particularly from Arsenal, who have been on the receiving end of a few thrashings from Bayern over the years.

Kick-off is at the usual time of 8pm GMT, so stick with us for build-up, breaking team news and regular game updates, plus expert analysis from Arsenal correspondent Simon Collings at the Emirates.
