Arsenal transfer rumours: Lautaro Martinez update, Barcelona bargain deal, Rafael Leao decision

Arsenal fans were left stunned in January by the lack of incoming transfer business, despite numerous departures from the Emirates Stadium.

That left the Gunners squad depleted in a number of key areas, most notably in their attacking line and in central midfield.

Further exits are on the cards this summer with Alexandre Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah, Mohamed Elneny and Granit Xhaka among those touted for a departure, which means it's likely to be a busy few months for Arsenal, and rumours are already circulating.

A long list of striking targets is starting to emerge for Arsenal and CalcioMercato has added Lautaro Martinez to that quota, with the Argentine said to be of interest to the Gunners.

The highly-rated Argentine striker has been linked with a string of Premier League clubs, including Tottenham and Manchester City, while Barcelona have also been attributed with an interest.

That could result in a fierce battle in the transfer market this summer with all the aforementioned trio in the market for a striker, as well as Arsenal.

Elsewhere, Fichajes states that Sergi Roberto is poised to leave Barcelona on a free transfer at the end of the season and Arsenal are touted as candidates for his services.

The Spaniard, able to play at right-back and central midfield, is out of contract in Catalonia this summer and will depart following a breakdown in talks with his boyhood club.

Finally, La Repubblica name Arsenal as the latest Premier League side to join the hunt for AC Milan striker Rafael Leao.

The 22-year-old has hit a fine vein of form, netting five goals in seven appearances in 2022, and has been linked with Everton and Wolves.
