Arsenal transfer round-up: Moussa Diaby offer planned amid boost for Wolves star

Arsenal began their 2022/23 Premier League campaign with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Friday night as new signings Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus made their first competitive starts, but Mikel Arteta is still after further additions to his squad.

The Gunners have added Jesus to their attacking ranks this summer but another winger is still on the agenda, with reports now revealing that Arsenal are preparing an offer for Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby. Elsewhere, the north Londoners are admirers of Wolves star Pedro Neto and are said to have received a boost in their pursuit of the winger.

Mirror Football brings you all the latest transfer stories coming out of the Emirates Stadium…

Moussa Diaby offer planned

Arsenal are still hurting from missing out on former Leeds United winger Raphinha to Barcelona earlier this summer but now they look as though they may have found a replacement in the form of Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby, who is thought to cost around the same price.

And according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, who was speaking to Caught Offside, the Gunners believe that they may be able to twist Leverkusen’s arm for the player they deem ‘not for sale’ with a £60million opening bid, as they prepare for tough negotiations with the German outfit.

This comes after news that Gunners owner Stan Kroenke has reportedly given Edu permission to launch an offensive to bring Diaby to the Emirates Stadium this summer, as they aim to avoid losing out on another transfer target in that position.

Gunners boost for Wolves star?

As well as Moussa Diaby, Arsenal are also said to be interested in signing another winger in the form of Wolves star Pedro Neto, who started in their 2-1 defeat to Leeds United on Saturday.

Wolves have signed Valencia ace Goncalo Guedes, in a deal worth £27million, and speculation around Neto's future has grown - particularly over suggestions he could move to north London.

But Wolves intend on keeping Neto at the club beyond this summer and if Arsenal are indeed keen, then it's going to take a club record move to even bring Wanderers to the table.

Arsenal international set for loan exit

With Arsenal signing goalkeeper Matt Turner from the MLS this summer, it helped to push former no.1 Bernd Leno out the door, but it may have also impacted another player’s future following reports that Gunners shot stopper Alex Runarsson is set to depart the club.

That’s according to Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb, who claim that Runarsson is on his way out of the club this summer as he prepares to sign a season-long loan deal with Turkish outfit Alanyaspor, although it is hinted that an option to buy is not included in the move.

The Icelandic international signed a four-year deal with the Gunners in September 2020 after arriving from then-Ligue 1 side Dijon, making just six appearances in his first season in north London before being loaned out to Belgian outfit OH Leuven last season, where he registered a total of 21 appearances.
