Arsenal transfer round-up: Gunners ‘monitor’ Gnabry as Tielemans preference revealed

Arsenal remain in the hunt for several players this summer as they look to add to their three confirmed transfer window additions so far, with Mikel Arteta intent on signing his top transfer targets to continue his rebuild of the Gunners.

With a move for Raphinha now all but over, Arsenal are casting their eye over alternative options and are reportedly ‘monitoring’ Serge Gnabry’s contract situation at Bayern Munich ahead of a potential return to north London, while midfield target Youri Tielemans would apparently “choose Arsenal all day long".

Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest transfer stories coming out of the Emirates Stadium…

Gunners ‘monitor’ Gnabry

Arsenal seem to be fighting a losing battle when it comes to signing Leeds United winger Raphinha this summer, with the Brazilian expected to go to Chelsea after the Blues had a £60 million bid accepted by the Whites.

As a result, the Gunners are moving forward with other potential options and Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry has risen to the top of the list due to his unresolved contract situation at the Allianz Arena, where he is set to enter the final 12 months of his existing deal.

And according to a report from 90min, Arsenal are ‘monitoring’ their former player as an alternative to Raphinha, and may look to lure him back to north London following his departure to Werder Bremen in 2016.

Tielemans preference revealed

Arsenal were strongly linked with a move for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans at the start of the summer transfer window but after signing Porto’s Fabio Vieira and focusing their attention on a deal for Gabriel Jesus, the Gunners ‘cooled’ their interest.

However, that isn’t to say that a deal is still completely off the cards, while the Belgian international is open to an exit from the Foxes this summer, but Manchester United have also begun to express their interest as they prepare to miss out on Christian Eriksen.

But according to transfer expert Ben Jacobs, Tielemans would choose a move to Arsenal over United “all day long”. Speaking to The Football Terrace Podcast, he said: "Youri Tielemans will choose Arsenal over Man Utd all day long"

Arsenal ‘seeking’ Pepe suitors

It was suggested earlier this summer that Nicolas Pepe could be on his way out of Arsenal after three seasons at the Emirates Stadium, in which he has failed to really hit the heights in north London following his transfer from Lille in 2019 for a club-record fee of £72 million.

Even the Ivorian is open to an exit from the club this summer and with all parties seemingly in agreement regarding his future, the Gunners are now openly seeking potential suitors for Pepe, according to the Press Association, via football.london.

However, due to his high wages, a season-long loan move away from the club is the most likely outcome this summer, with Spain rumoured to be a possible destination for the 27-year-old as things stand.
