Arsenal transfer news: Dinamo Zagreb set price tag on Josip Sutalo as Gunners scout highly-rated defender

Arsenal are tracking Croatia defender Josip Sutalo as they target a new centre-back this summer.

The Gunners want to upgrade their backline for next season and are also keeping tabs on Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi.

Sutalo made his debut for Croatia last year and was in their World Cup squad.

The 23-year-old has caught the eye of a number of clubs around Europe with his performances for Dinamo Zagreb and is expected to be on the move this summer.

Standard Sport understand Dinamo are likely to demand around £18million for Sutalo and, while no formals talks have taken place, Arsenal are scouting him as they weigh up their defensive options.

Palace are likely to demand a significant fee for Guehi, given he is an England international and has three years left on his contract at Selhurst Park.

Guehi is also wanted by Tottenham, while Chelsea would be due a sizeable percentage for any future sale. The Blues would also be given the chance to match any offer, though they are unlikely to be in the market for another centre-back this summer.

Arsenal are ready to back Mikel Arteta in the transfer market as they prepare to return to the Champions League for the first time in six years.

The Gunners want to sign at least one central midfielder, with West Ham captain Declan Rice their top transfer target.

Brighton’s Moises Caicedo remains of interest to Arsenal after they failed with two bids for him in January. Caicedo has since signed a new contract until 2027, with Brighton having the option to extend it by a further year.
