Arsenal transfer news: Alvaro Morata response, Ruben Neves 'priority' and Luka Jovic bargain

Arsenal fans endured a nightmare past week as they witnessed their team give up pole position for the fourth and final Champions League spot after suffering two defeats in games they will have been expected to win. The Gunners were defeated 3-1 last Monday by Crystal Palace, before losing to Brighton 2-1 at the Emirates on Saturday.

The two losses now leave Arsenal three points behind Spurs in the table, but still with a game in hand. Realistically, Arsenal are still in a good position to take the fourth Champions League spot, with a number or huge games to come in the following weeks. But they will feel majorly disappointed after their back-to-back losses.

If they're able to secure qualification, they'll look to keep that place for years to come with an important transfer window ahead of them this summer. Mikel Arteta has built a solid core at the club, with a number of young players for Arsenal to be excited about.

This summer they will look to strengthen the group, with a number of potential key signings. Here are the latest players who have been linked to the club.

Alvaro Morata will 'gladly' join Arsenal

Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport have reported that Arsenal showed interest in on loan Juventus striker Alvaro Morata this season and could sign him at a cut-price of £30 million. The Spanish striker is currently on a two-year loan with the Turin side, who have an option to sign him from Atletico, however it is understood that they will not take up the option - with the La Liga champions looking to offload him in the summer.

It has been reported that Arsenal had targeted him in January when looking to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - with interest potentially being revived in the summer. The report adds that Morata would be happy to join Arsenal and work alongside Arteta.

Gunners will 'prioritise' signing Ruben Neves

Sky Sports have reported that Ruben Neves is a priority for Arsenal this summer as they look to continue to build their young squad. The report claims that Wolves could demand as much as £60m for Neves, with the Gunners not put off by the fee and looking to add the Portuguese star to their midfield.

Neves has continued to shine in his fourth year in the Premier League, being lauded for his recent performances. He is reportedly seen as a replacement for Granit Xhaka who looks to leave the club this summer.

Arsenal in 'pole position' to sign Luka Jovic

Spaniah outlet Nacional have reported that Arsenal will look to Real Madrid's Luka Jovic this summer as a replacement for Aubameyang - and that the Gunners are in pole position to confirm his signature. It's been a tough few years for the Serbian striker after his big money to the Spanish giants in 2019, scoring just three league goals in 34 appearances in cameo roles.

Jovic has previously shown his talents in the Bundesliga, scoring 29 goals with Eintracht Frankfurt, but has failed to live up to lofty expectations at the Bernabeu and is comfortably behind Karim Benzema in the pecking order.

The report adds that Real are looking for around £25 million - less than half than what they paid for him three years ago in what could be a bargain move.
