Arsenal told Cody Gakpo transfer price as Gunners eye potential move for PSV star winger

Arsenal's summer break has proven fruitful ahead of a brand new Premier League campaign. The Gunners have performed well in pre-season, winning all of their games apart from a rotated side losing 2-1 to Brentford in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Wednesday.

That leaves Sevilla in the Emirates Cup final as the only test before the real thing kicks off against Crystal Palace on Friday, August 5th. Several new faces will be on display, with Mikel Arteta making five additions to his squad so far in a spending spree costing over £100million.

The backing has been given in the hope that Arsenal can go one step further than last season and finally finish in the top four. While the Gunners impressed and had the upper hand in the race for Champions League football, they narrowly missed out to north London rivals Tottenham.

A fresh season brings renewed hope and optimism as well as the fresh energy of the new arrivals. Arteta may not be done with signings as of yet though as plenty of players continue to be linked with a switch to the Emirates.

One of which is PSV star Cody Gakpo, who has impressed in the Eredivisie with 25 goal involvements in 27 appearances. football.london understands Arsenal are indeed one of several Premier League clubs following a move for the 23-year-old this summer.

Gakpo is highly admired by Arteta, with the player having the desire to play in the Premier League in his career. His versatility makes him an option across the front three and one that could be available after missing out on Raphinha and Serge Gnabry.

Should the Gunners wish to land their man, it may not come at too much of a cost. That's because Fabrizio Romano told Caught Offside that his price tag is set at €40million-€45million (£33.5million-£38million).

It could be a move that sees Arsenal spending increase further, however there may have to be some exits before the arrivals continue to flow again.
