Arsenal suffer triple injury blow as team news comes out ahead of Liverpool Carabao Cup decider

Arsenal have confirmed that Cedric Soares, Bernd Leno and Calum Chambers will miss the Gunners' Carabao Cup semi-final, second leg with Liverpool due to injury issues.

Cedric was injured in the first leg at Anfield which ended in a 0-0 draw, meaning it's not too much of a surprise to see the Portuguese right-back miss out on this one.

The previously injured Takehiro Tomiyasu starts for Mikel Arteta's side at right-back in this Emirates Stadium clash.

Leno, who has been linked with a shock move to Newcastle, has also been sidelined for this clash with Aaron Ramsdale, as expected, keeping his place in the starting XI.

Finally, Chambers, who ended up replacing Cedric in the first leg, also misses out which will come as a big blow to the Englishman, especially considering how well he did in the first leg when the Gunners had to play much of the game with only 10 men after Granit Xhaka was sent off.

Arsenal's social media confirmed this news with their tweet which read: 'Cedric (right hip), Leno (back), Chambers (neck) all miss tonight's squad through injury.

'Speedy recovery, lads.'

Prior to this second leg, manager Arteta confirmed the latest injury and Covid related news in his pre-match press conference, with none of the aforementioned trio namechecked as potential absentees.

"Again, there are three cases that for different reasons haven’t been able to play for us in recent weeks. We are trying to change and raise the level of those players to the best possible level to compete tomorrow," the Spaniard said on all of Tomiyasu, Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith-Rowe who all came into the second leg as doubtful.
