  • The match occurred on a day when Arsenal moved closer to securing the signing of Brazil international Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United for £75 million, with the midfielder granted permission for a medical.
  • Manager Mikel Arteta was unimpressed by large parts of the team's display, despite the pre-season context, noting that no player significantly boosted their chances for more playing time.
