Arsenal have submitted an official bid for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk football.london understands. The Ukrainian has been linked with a move to the Gunners for some time now and it is thought that the Gunners have moved to make him their first signing of the January transfer window.
It is not known exactly how much Arsenal have bid, although it is thought that Shakhtar are expected to reject the offer and intend to hold out for more. The club would be open to selling the winger for the right price however.
It is likely that Arsenal will have to increase both the initial fee and add ons if they are to come up with a package that could convince Shakhtar to part with the Ukrainian. The player is also thought to be pushing for the move from his side which could help progress the deal along.

Arsenal are thought to be keen to get the deal done early in the window as they seek to bolster their chances of claiming a first Premier League title since 2004. Manager Mikel Arteta confirmed that the Gunners want to bring in players to their squad prior to a crucial January in which they face Newcastle, Tottenham and Manchester United.
"We knew the importance of getting players early in the summer and that is the same we want to do in January," the Spaniard said ahead of his side's Boxing Day clash with West Ham. "This is idealistic. Sometimes it is not realistic. But obviously, if you ask my opinion, as quick as possible we want the players in to get settled."
