Arsenal state of play as Mikel Arteta and Edu complete transfer and allow Aubameyang to leave

Time is starting to run out for Edu and Mikel Arteta as the January transfer window draws to a close.

Arsenal have made just one first-team signing so far with the addition of 23-year-old Colorado Rapids defender Auston Trusty, who will spend the rest of the season on loan at the MLS side.

Tottenham, Manchester United and West Ham find themselves in a similar position to the Gunners, with Arteta admitting that the market has been "difficult" for all involved.

So, what is the current state of play at Arsenal as we enter the final hour of the window? football.london takes a look.

Incomings

MLS outfit Colorado Rapids have announced that Auston Trusty will join the Gunners in the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old is a talented defender, typically operating as a centre-back for the Rapids, who are also owned by Arsenal chief Stan Kroenke.

The Pennsylvania-born centre-half has spent the last two seasons with the Rapids after joining from fellow MLS side Philadelphia Union back in 2020.

He's expected to spend the next season out on loan at a European club, which means it could be at least another year before Arsenal fans see him in a Gunners shirt.

Other than Trusty's arrival, Arsenal are not expected to make any further signings until the transfer window closes.

Outgoings

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has completed a free transfer to Barcelona.

The former Arsenal captain will take a wage cut to join the La Liga giants after flying out to Spain on Monday ahead of the move.

football.london revealed earlier in the day that Amani Richards had left the club and joined Leicester City on a three year deal.
