Arsenal star in transfer talks ahead of Nottingham Forest clash

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is in talks to join Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen next season, according to reports.

The Swiss star is expected to play for the Gunners against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, a match which could be decisive in both team's seasons. Forest are currently three points clear of the bottom three whilst Mikel Arteta's side sit four points behind league leaders Manchester City.

The Reds could secure their Premier League status for another campaign with a win and if other results go their way, whilst Arsenal's title challenge would officially end with defeat at the City Ground.

And ahead of a vital match, one of our sister sites Football.London are reporting that Xhaka is currently in advanced talks over a move away from the Emirates next season.

They claim that a transfer to German club Leverkusen is now on the verge of being completed which would see him sign for a €15million (£13million) deal and sign a contract until 2027.

The 30-year-old has scored seven goals alongside seven assists from 45 appearances in all competitions this season. Remaining at the North London club beyond the summer would have seen Xhaka enter the final year of his contract, with the club also holding an option to extend that by another 12 months. The Swiss has made 34 Premier League starts for the Gunner this season and is expected to be in the XI to face Forest.
