Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale could be set for a new role in the England national team setup after fellow goalkeeper Jordan Pickford admitted his position could come under threat. The Everton shot-stopper is Gareth Southgate's current No. 1, but circumstances may change that stance.
Ramsdale has had an opportunity in the Three Lions shirt, but has yet to oust his compatriot as the regular choice with the gloves. That is despite the 24-year-old impressing with the Gunners, having helped transform them into the title contenders they are currently proving to be.
"I always said he’s been exceptional since the day we signed him," Mikel Arteta said last year on his goalkeeper. "Not only on the pitch, but what he transmitted, what he brought to the building, to the club, outside with his character and personality and that’s the kind of people that we want to bring to the club."

Ramsdale has continually done enough to earn call-ups to the England squad, but is yet to break into the role as first choice goalkeeper. However, his competition in Pickford has admitted that he could soon lose the role if he and his Everton side get relegated from the Premier League this season.
"I’ve just gotta focus on myself," the former Sunderland man said ahead of England's match with Ukraine on Sunday. "Aaron is having a top season at Arsenal, going for the title, while Newcastle [and Tom Pope] are fifth, so they could be in the Champions League as well.
“It’s important that Everton stay in the Premier League. It’s the top league to be in, so I’ve got to put my focus on that. I can only think about being the best I can be. We’ve got a good set of lads with England. It’s like a keepers’ union - and I like seeing them all doing well.
“It’s nice to see the trust the manager has put in me, but my form over the last three years has been really good.”
It remains to be seen if the opportunity will be handed to Ramsdale to earn the shirt for himself once again, however his performances for Arsenal certainly won't do his chances any harm, while the rest is down to the chances he is presented with.
