Arsenal have announced the signing of goalkeeper Neto from Bournemouth on a season-long loan.
The 35-year-old has started all three games for the Cherries so far this season, but Kepa Arrizabalaga has joined the Bournemouth on loan from Chelsea and is set to become the club’s number one.
Arsenal have been in the market for a goalkeeper after Aaron Ramsdale’s permanent move to Southampton for a fee that could rise to £25million.
Joan Garcia was initially top of the Gunners’ wishlist, but Espanyol held firm on demanding the Spaniard’s release clause of around £26m was paid in full.
Arsenal were unwilling to match that and swiftly moved on to Neto, who is set to provide competition for David Raya this season.
Reports suggest the Gunners made an enquiry on deadline day for Daniel Bentley, as they eye a homegrown third-choice goalkeeper, but Wolves were unwilling to discuss a sale so late in the window.
