Arsenal should revel in interest for William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães as PSG consider offers

Arsenal have built a team that gave Manchester City a run for the title last season but ultimately the lack of depth cost them. While the starting eleven may have been able to get 90-plus points, after losing many key figures throughout the campaign without the required depth, the Gunners ultimately fell away.

But Mikel Arteta with the help of his sporting director Edu has built a team of coveted stars. So much so that now clubs are looking at the North London side for potential transfer targets now and in the future.

Thankfully, the club have worked hard to renew many of them to stave off any potential interest. Recent renewals have been secured for Gabriel Martinelli, Aaron Ramsdale, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Magalhães.

This is important particularly for the latter with Gabriel attracting interest from elsewhere. According to Goal, the French champions PSG are considering a move for the former Lille defender as Arsenal prepare to try to keep hold of their players.

Having signed his new deal, he described the moment as the best day of his life. Words from a player certainly not thinking about moving elsewhere.

"I’m very happy to sign this new contract with Arsenal because it's such a big club," he said. "It’s my dream and today is the best day of my life. I’m so happy to extend my contract here.”

There are suggestions that William Saliba is also of interest to the French side. However, fears over his future despite not yet renewing his contract can be quelled by his words of fondness for Arsenal throughout the season.

“I am so happy here,” said Saliba. “The club is speaking with my agent and me, the only thing I can do is [focus on my football]. I am so happy here.”

While it can be somewhat nervy seeing clubs interested in the Gunners’ stars, it is a positive sign. It’s evidence that the club are bringing in the right players and improving them to draw the eyes of some top sides.

Edu Gaspar is facing scrutiny this summer to improve the club’s reputation regarding player sales, to increase the income made from exits. Praise can be directed for the renewals of contracts, but the emphasis on what money the club can make is expected and fair.
