Arsenal should complete £35m Gabriel Jesus transfer after Mikel Arteta admission

If you're talking about realistic centre forward options for Arsenal this summer, then Gabriel Jesus simply has to be number one on the list. football.london understands that Edu has been holding meetings with the Manchester City forward's agent since November, as the Gunners seek to secure a summer deal and it's easy to see why.

The Brazilian has 141 goal involvements in 234 City appearances, but the stats don't even begin to the tell the full story of how he could be for Arsenal. Mikel Arteta has made it clear that he is looking for the unicorn striker capable of dropping deep to link play, running in behind to stretch teams and pressing high to cause problems for the opposition by picking Eddie Nketiah over Alexandre Lacazette in recent matches. Jesus ticks all of these boxes.

He was so impressive in the 'Firmino role' for the Brazilian national team that he actually kept Roberto Firmino out of the side for a few years. Imagine that link up with Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and his countryman Gabriel Martinelli and it's a mouthwatering prospect.

He also has the pace and dribbling from playing much of his recent football on the wings, and having spent five years playing under Pep Guardiola he's got plenty of experience in winning the ball back high up the pitch. On top of all that he could be available for as little as £35million.

As Arsenal look to bridge the gap between themselves and the Premier League's very best, signing a player who has won the thing three times just makes so much sense. Having been in the supporting cast at City for half a decade the 25-year-old is now at a stage in his career when he's ready to be the main man, and Arsenal can give him that opportunity.

The Gunners need a striker, and Jesus needs a new team. This feels like a match made in heaven.
