Arsenal's Next 11 Fixtures Presents Huge Chance In Title Race

Arsenal’s quest to win the Premier League title might not be over when looking at their next 11 fixtures in the competition.

It has been a tough start to the season for Mikel Arteta’s side who are already nine points off leaders Liverpool.

However, it is not all doom and gloom for fans of the Gunners when you take a look at what games they have played and what’s to come.

There is still a long way to go this season and Arsenal have already faced the six other teams who finished in the top seven last season.

The next 11 games present a huge opportunity to close the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City.

Life On The Road To Get Easier For Arsenal

Across Arsenal’s opening 11 Premier League fixtures, they travelled around 715 miles to away games.

In comparison, over their next 11 fixtures, Arsenal will only travel around 128 miles. Over that time they have four away games in London against West Ham, Fulham, Crystal Palace and Brentford. Their only other away fixture out of London in that period is at Brighton.

Arsenal have also got some big away fixtures out of the way early this season. They have already travelled to Aston Villa, Tottenham, Manchester City, Newcastle and Chelsea.

In comparison, Liverpool have played football at just two of last season’s top eight on the road in the shape of Manchester United and the Gunners. Manchester City have only travelled to Chelsea and Newcastle out of last season’s top eight.

As reported by the Telegraph, Opta rate Arsenal’s first 11 games as the fifth-most difficult set of fixtures faced by a Premier League team.

City and Liverpool were rated as having the third and seventh-most easiest set of fixtures so far.

Mikel Arteta Wants Arsenal Stars To ‘Show Their Teeth’

Going into the next vital period of the season, Mikel Arteta said he wants his Arsenal players to ‘show their teeth’ in upcoming fixtures.

Earlier this month, he said: “Win, win and win because these guys, they don’t stop winning, so that’s what we have to do. When it gets nasty, show your teeth and show how much you want it.

“When it’s Disneyland, it’s easy, everyone is next to you and telling you how beautiful you are and when it gets dark and difficult, everyone is questioning it. That’s when I want to see people, that’s when I’m always looking around.

“There is nothing we can change today about that [the league table]. What I am just praying [for] is that after the international break I have the team fully equipped physically, they are available and they are fit because it has been an absolute nightmare for eight weeks.”
