Arsenal are said to be preparing a second bid for Ajax star Jurrien Timber in the coming days. The Gunners saw their first bid, said to be a package worth roughly £30million, turned down by the Dutch club as interest in the defender became concrete.
With just two-years remaining on his contract and with Ajax finishing third last season - resulting in a lack of Champions League football - a move appears more likely. Manchester United have previously been linked with a switch, with the 22-year-old playing under Erik ten Hag in his time in Amsterdam.
That move hasn't gone through though, leaving the path open for Arsenal to make a swoop for the youngster this summer. His age profile and versatility suit the playing style of Mikel Arteta, who is looking for a defender comfortable on the ball, with his full-backs able to tuck into midfield.
