For Arsenal, two positions appeared to stand out as priorities in the transfer window this summer, striker and central midfield.
As a month passes by since the window opened, the Gunners have managed to tick one of those off with the signing of Gabriel Jesus, but concrete progress for a new midfielder is yet to emerge.
It's no secret that Mikel Arteta would ideally like to bolster his squad in this area, with a long-standing interest in Youri Tielemans backing that up. football.london understands that talks with his representatives have been ongoing for a while, suggesting that much of the groundwork for a potential deal has already been laid.
