Arsenal pre-season timetable and Kai Havertz's first day confirmed as stars return to training

Arsenal's preparations for the 2023/24 season have been finalised.

After fading away in agonising fashion at the final hurdle in the Premier League title race just a couple of months ago, there is a lot of work to be done for Mikel Arteta to ensure his side are raring to go when they welcome Nottingham Forest to the Emirates Stadium on August 12.

With that said, considering the likes of Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Aaron Ramsdale and Jorginho had international commitments during the summer, their returns will be staggered but it has already been confirmed that £65million signing Kai Havertz will be linking up with his new teammates shortly.

For the rest of the senior players, after a month off, the hard yards have begun, for a select few, again and here's a timetable of how Arsenal's pre-season for 2023/24 will map out.

Week commencing Monday July 3: Arsenal's first-team players are back this week with most returning across Monday and Tuesday. Medical screenings, strength tests and some light ball work on the pitches have taken place at the training ground with William Saliba spotted in a session for the first time since March.

Week commencing Monday July 10: For the second successive summer, Arsenal will hold a training camp at the Adidas HQ in Germany with a game against Nurnberg pencilled in for the 13th (6pm kick-off). The two teams met last year with Gabriel Jesus catching the eye on his first appearance since joining form Manchester City.

Thursday July 20: After the Germany trip, the squad will then travel to the United States of America for their pre-season tour and the first of three fixtures will be against MLS All Stars XI in Washington (8.30pm kick-off local time, 1.30am UK).

Saturday July 22: A couple of days later the Gunners face Premier League rivals Manchester United in New York (5pm kick-off local time, 10pm UK).

Wednesday July 22: Rounding off the USA trip is a game against La Liga champions Barcelona in LA (Kick-off TBC).

Wednesday August 2: Arsenal's plans have slightly changed for the first week in August as football.london understands they initially planned to play a friendly in Europe on that weekend, but that's no longer the case. However, there will be another one-day Emirates Cup tournament with the opponents confirmed to be Monaco (6pm kick-off).

Sunday August 5: Of course, as a result of finishing second in the Premier League and because of Manchester United's defeat in the FA Cup final, the Gunners' first competitive fixture of the new campaign will be against Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium (4pm kick-off).
