And the shocked former Gunners great believes even Newcastle could finish above them next season if they carry on playing as badly as they did in their 2-0 defeat at St James' Park. But Merson, who won five major trophies with the club as a player, was shocked by what he saw on Monday night and insists it will only get tougher next season.
