Aaron Ramsdale: One very hairy moment playing out from the back nearly offered Newcastle an unnecessary route to victory. Was impressive for the most part from set pieces though considering Newcastle's height. 6.
Ben White: At his aggressive best in the duel with some good moments on the ball. A few nice cross field switches, but not enough to bring Martinelli consistently into the game. 6
William Saliba: Still looking a touch rusty after the World Cup but did OK tonight. Looked to play where possible and defender counters decently when called upon. 6.

Gabriel: The Brazilian is such a useful tool from set pieces and nearly caused havoc on a few occasions. Looks to be the more solid of the defensive pairing at the moment. Some excellent passes towards the end too. 8.
Oleksandr Zinchenko: Not as influential on the ball as against Brighton. One nice pass to Nketiah to set off an attacking chance but that was mostly it. Defensively solid enough though. 6.
Thomas Partey: A really composed display from the Ghanaian. Hardly given any space by the impressive Newcastle defence but managed to wriggle away each time. Defensively solid too. 7.
Granit Xhaka: Not the Swiss midfielder's greatest game. Looked on some occasions like he was playing the psychological game Newcastle wanted and his passing was a little off. Got forward well early though. 6.
Martin Odegaard: Unusually lacking in composure on a few occasions in the final third and snatched at opportunities. Couldn't unpick the tightly-locked Newcastle backline. 6.
Bukayo Saka: Arsenal's most consistent danger with his runs down the right. Was left isolated on several occasions but still caused Newcastle problems. 7.
Eddie Nketiah: Another really positive game from the 23-year-old in Gabriel Jesus' absences. Serenaded consistently by the Arsenal fans for his hard work and inventive link up play. 8.
Gabriel Martinelli: A bright start down the left but slightly anonymous after that. Shut out of the game really effectively by Newcastle who limited his supply. 6.
Substitutes -
Takehiro Tomiyasu: One crucial defensive intervention after coming on even if it was offside. Looked a lot less rusty than his Brighton cameo. 7.
