Aaron Ramsdale
Aaron Ramsdale produced some great passes in the opening half. Driven low balls into the midfield and Gabriel Jesus which sped up the play well.
He did have one awkward moment when he played the ball out mistakenly for a corner. However, he managed to produce some good stops too. 7.
Ben White
Ben White just keeps getting better at learning his new right-back role, so much so it feels strange to call it ‘new.’ He progressed play and was involved in the cross which eventually led to Kieran Tierney’s goal.
It was necessary that he was brought off with time remaining to be rested ahead of Chelsea. He will be a key player restricting Chelsea’s left that is for sure. 7.
Rob Holding
Rob Holding again looked at a level below what Mikel Arteta has come to expect from his defenders. The distribution was limited compared to what William Saliba has tended to provide and the experienced centre-half’s pace let him down when in a foot race with Aiyegun Tosin. 5.

Gabriel Magalhaes
An uncharacteristically quiet game from Gabriel but that is by no means a bad thing. With the errors that have been involved throughout the season, having a solid 7/10 performance needs to be something we see strung together more often. 7.
Kieran Tierney
Kieran Tierney needed to make an impression when the chance arrived, and it is fair to say that he took it. Opening the scoring with what was a brilliant strike of his left foot on the half-volley as the ball fell to him just outside the area.
Defensively he looked good too, which is arguably more important when in competition with both Takehiro Tomiyasu and Oleksandr Zinchenko. The Scot needs to showcase his overall game and he did that very well, especially with Tomiyasu coming off with a potential injury. 8.
Mohamed Elneny
Returning to the side for the first time since suffering a serious hamstring injury against Fulham in August, Mohamed Elneny looked like a player taking very few risks and understandably so. That said, he provided a typically reliable performance from midfield, keeping the ball moving and making himself available for the ball when necessary but the difference between the Egyptian and Thomas Partey was, as usual, obvious. 6.
Sambi Lokonga
This was a chance for Albert Sambi Lokonga to show what he could do in a more advanced midfield role. His first half performance was a quiet one, he struggled to impact the play further forward but shielded well, a lingering effect perhaps from his time in the number six role.
However, he was far better in the second half, especially once Thomas Partey had come onto the field. The absence of Granit Xhaka was noticeable, but Lokonga managed some good turnovers of the ball, switches of play and progressive passing. 7.
Fabio Vieira
Fabio Vieira looks a player in transition which is unsurprising considering he only arrived in the summer. However, this is an unforgiving side to play for and it seems he needs more confidence in his ability.
Vieira had efforts on and off goal, would have scored were it not for Gabriel Jesus’ accidental block, and played some hopeful balls into the box. Yet he was still substituted late on for Martin Odegaard, failing to help the Gunners breakthrough. 6.
Reiss Nelson
It wasn’t the fireworks of Sunday, but Reiss Nelson played an energetic game on both flanks showing off his versatility. His pass for Ben White which led to the first goal was perfect, but he couldn’t quite find the cutting edge from his Premier League starring role. 6.
Gabriel Jesus
Harrying and chasing. But a classic game where luck was going against him where he blocked Fabio Vieira’s goal-bound strike. Should score at the start of the second half.
What can be described as an incredibly unlucky performance. It was the perfect example of a player for whom a goal simply will not come for.
He blocked a shot from Fabio Vieira which looked destined to be the Gunners’ second and had several great chances to score one for himself. In particular, was an effort in the second half he could only force a good save from where he should be scoring.
Chelsea next and if he can score at Stamford Bridge to end his drought there are few places better to do so. Here though, it was a chance to show more. 6.
Eddie Nketiah
Eddie Nketiah couldn’t find the net on this occasion once again but had a solid performance playing the majority of the game in the wide role. He was close on a couple of occasions with a first-half strike but unable still end his barren run without a goal. 6.
Substitutes
Thomas Partey
Thomas Partey increased the quality from central midfield as expected. He found the cutting passes that had been missing from Elneny’s contribution. 6.
Bukayo Saka
It was a shame that Bukayo Saka replaced Gabriel Jesus as the Brazilian would have offered more to the winger than Nketiah who continued to drift left leaving Saka rather isolated. 5.
Takehiro Tomiyasu
Had nothing meaningful to add after coming off the bench in a short period before being replaced with what looked like a knee injury. n/a.
Martin Odegaard
Had nothing meaningful to add after coming off the bench in a short period. n/a.
Cedric Soares
Had nothing meaningful to add after coming off the bench in a short period. n/a.
