rsenal secured top spot in their Europa League group and a bye to the last-16 by beating FC Zurich.

The Gunners dominated large parts of the game, but they only won by a solitary goal in the end, with Kieran Tierney scoring in the first-half.

Swiss champions Zurich proved to be stubborn opponents and they frustrated Arsenal by making it difficult for them to break them down.

Arsenal, however, claimed the 1-0 win that means they are winners of Group A and they go straight into the last-16 of the Europa League.

Aaron Ramsdale 7

Had a pretty quiet night as Arsenal dominated possession for most of the match. Came good towards the end of the game, though, with some big saves.

Ben White 7

Was a surprise starter at right-back, given Arsenal go to Chelsea on Sunday, but he had a good game. Played a key role in Arsenal’s goal with a good cross from the right.

Rob Holding 7

Started a little shaky early on, but he improved as the match went on. Won plenty of headers and rarely lost a single 50-50 all night.

Gabriel 7

Had a good game at centre-back and looked composed throughout. He has been shaky at times this season, but his passing was good tonight.

Kieran Tierney 8 | Star player

Arsenal’s best player and this was also probably the Scot’s best performance of the season so far. Took his goal really well and caused problems on the overlap.

Fabio Vieira 6

Had the odd nice moment where he showed some lovely skill. Will be gutted he didn’t score as he had two good chances in the first-half.

Mohamed Elneny 6

A steady return to the team for the Egypt international, who has been out since August with a hamstring injury. Kept things neat and tidy in midfield.

Albert Sambi Lokonga 7

Just about the pick of Arsenal’s midfielders on the night. Looked more comfortable playing further forward and driving with the ball.

Reiss Nelson 6

Not the stunning performance he put in against Nottingham Forest. Made the odd nice run and played a role in Tierney’s goal with a great through-ball for White.

Gabriel Jesus 6

The striker’s wait for a goal goes on and it’s now eight matches since he found the net. He had one good chance here, while his link-up play was excellent as ever.

Eddie Nketiah 6

Worked tirelessly out left and linked up nicely with Tierney, who overlapped a lot. Still feels like Nketiah is best served playing as a No9, though.

Substitutions

Bukayo Saka (Jesus 63’) 6

Came on for the final 30 minutes to show he is fully fit. Made the odd bright run.

Thomas Partey (Elneny 63’) 6

Added a bit of calm to Arsenal’s midfield as they saw out the game.

Martin Odegaard (Vieira 73’) N/A

Takehiro Tomiyasu (White 73’) N/A

Cedric Soares (Tomiyasu 90’) N/A
