Arsenal plan Emirates Stadium renovations with fans to be consulted over changes to legends motif

Arsenal are planning to renovate Emirates Stadium this summer, with repairing the roof a major part of the work taking place.

The Gunners moved from their old home, Highbury, to the Emirates in 2006 and the club are aware the venue is in need of some renovations.

Repairing the stadium’s roof, which has been prone to leaking recently, is a key aim of the project and work on that is anticipated to take up to 40 weeks. It is not expected to impact the venue’s capacity, however.

Arsenal are also looking to replace the huge crests attached to the outside of the ground and the legends motif around them will be remodelled. The club plan to liaise with a fan working group on the latter to ensure supporters are on board with any new design.

Work to improve the turnstile readers is on the agenda and the big screens inside the ground will also be upgraded.

The plan for works was relayed to Arsenal supporters at a fans’ forum meeting on Tuesday, where chief executive Vinai Venkatesham was present.

The club stressed to supporters to keep relaying issues with the stadium that need to be resolved and said they will try and incorporate them into the work being done.
