Arsenal on red-alert as Everton prepare Dominic Calvert-Lewin transfer decision

Everton are reportedly considering the sale of star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer as they look to address another season of significant financial losses, putting Arsenal on red-alert.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for Calvert-Lewin with Mikel Arteta on the hunt for a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang replacement. The Gabon striker was ousted from the first-team before having his contract cancelled in January, allowing him to move to Barcelona on a free transfer.

Calvert-Lewin has endured a frustrating season hampered badly by injuries. The 25-year-old has made just 10 Premier League appearances all campaign but still mustered three goals and with the Qatar World Cup taking place in November, a big money move may be an attractive prospect to the player too.

With Frank Lampard's side battling relegation, summer plans have been put in place that will help their finances. The Sun report that a high-ticket sale could be needed to help address a season that has seen the Toffees lost £121million. Calvert-Lewin's striker partner Richarlison could also be moved on with Manchester United said to be keeping tabs.

Back in the summer of 2021, Calvert-Lewin hinted that he could soon be tempted by a move away from Goodison Park, telling L'Equipe: "I am happy at Everton. I worked hard to become number nine at this club and score goals like I did recently. Personally, I have the ambition to one day play in the Champions League and win titles. But for now, I'm happy at Everton."

While he may be in the midst of a forgettable season, last term's tally of 21 Premier League goals means that the striker retains plenty of admirers throughout the top flight.
