Arteta shares transfer plan
Mikel Arteta says he is still trying to achieve the "perfect balance" in his Arsenal side ahead of the new season.
The Gunners will kick off their Premier League season on Friday, August 5, when they make the short trip to Crystal Palace – hoping to improve on last campaign's fifth-placed finish. Arteta has made additions to his squad ahead of the new season, but has now revealed the club are "still hoping to do something else if the market allows".
It means Arsenal could yet make more signings before the transfer window slams shut at the end of August.
Tielemans hint dropped
Mikel Arteta could shift his focus towards bringing in Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans before the end of the summer transfer window.
The Gunners boss is now blessed with plenty of options in attack, including new signings Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira and Marquinhos alongside Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Martinelli. Forgotten man Reiss Nelson could also get a chance to impress following his loan spell at Dutch side Feyenoord, meaning Arteta can put his energy into improving his midfield.
And with reports suggesting Leicester could be interested in signing Bernd Leno as their replacement for Nice-bound Kasper Schmeichel, a move could be edging closer.
Sevilla talking points
Arsenal enjoyed their final pre-season-friendly ahead of the new Premier League season as they claimed a rampant 6-0 win over Sevilla.
In a thrilling Emirates Cup match, the Gunners defeated their opponents thanks to a hat-trick from Gabriel Jesus and brace by Bukayo Saka. Eddie Nketiah rounded off the scoring with a late goal to raise expectation ahead of the new season.
It was a game full of talking points, including Martin Odegaard's first match wearing the captain's armband, Arteta deploying three centre-backs and another very impressive performance from Jesus.
