Arsenal are looking to consolidate top spot when they take on Chelsea on Sunday amid suggestions they missed out on signing Miguel Almiron.
The Gunners are sitting pretty in the Premier League, owing largely to their recruitment which saw them add the likes of Gabriel Jesus. First-team stars Martin Odegaard and Aaron Ramsdale were signed less than 18 months ago, but Almiron's agent claimed a loan offer was tabled by the north Londoners.
Newcastle's winger has been one of their standout performers after previously enduring a mixed time in the north east. Arsenal have also been handed a boost by a former youngster, who has hinted that he'd be open to a move back to the Emirates.
These are the latest news lines concerning the Gunners.
Almiron's Arsenal snub
Almiron’s agent has claimed that both Manchester United and Arsenal previously held an interest in his client amid his stunning form for Newcastle this season.
Almiron’s form has seen him earn a nomination for the Premier League player of the month for October, whilst it has also lifted Newcastle to the lofty heights of fourth in the table under Eddie Howe.
It could have been hugely different for the winger though, as his agent Daniel Campos has confirmed both Arsenal and United had their eyes on him in the past.
Speaking with ABC Cardinal, he said: "Miguel Almiron is a footballer who went from less to more, now he is a more complete footballer. There was interest shown by Manchester United in Miguel but they never made an offer. Arsenal and Southampton offered loan deals for him but we did not want it to be a loan."
Gunners youngster open to 'possible' return
Former Arsenal youngster Yunus Musah has admitted a return to the Gunners in future is "possible" amid recent transfer speculation.
The 19-year-old departed north London for Valencia in 2019 having spent seven years in Arsenal's academy. Since moving to Spain he has kick-started his career with the LaLiga giants, reportedly catching the eye of Gunners scouts again, as well as admiring glances from Liverpool and Juventus.
Musah has been a regular for his club side over the past two seasons, racking up more than 70 appearances and chipping in with four goals of his own. Yet despite insisting he is "really happy" at the Mestalla, he is open to donning Arsenal's colours again if the opportunity presents itself.
Emery eyes former Arsenal target
Unai Emery is reportedly planning on making former Arsenal and United target Pau Torres his first Aston Villa transfer having finally arrived in the Midlands.
The Spaniard was confirmed as Steven Gerrard’s successor at Villa Park last month but officially did not start work until this week. In the brief time he has had as boss, he has been assessing his squad with his Villa debut set to come against United on Sunday afternoon.
He will only have a couple of matches in charge before the Premier League takes an extended break for the World Cup in Qatar. Yet it appears that he has already started planning additions to his current crop of players.
