Arsenal have finally tied down Bukayo Saka to a long-term deal after months of talks.
The Gunners had been looking to negotiate a new contract for one of their prized assets, who is another product of their academy. Saka has just enjoyed the best season of his career and has now committed himself to the North Londoners.
Mikel Arteta and co are preparing for their final game of the campaign - a home contest against Wolves - which will wrap up a year that might've been. Manchester City were confirmed as champions after Arsenal were beaten at Nottingham Forest last weekend.
The Gunners, who have plenty of optimism heading forward, will want to get three points to finish their season ahead of a return to the Champions League.
Here's the latest from the Emirates.
Saka's promise
Saka has committed himself to Arsenal - and promised to deliver trophies.
The 21-year-old is one of English football’s hottest properties and has signed a mega £300,000-a-week deal until 2027 with his No.1 target to build on this season’s title challenge.
In a video accompanying his contract signing announcement, Saka told fans: “Dreams don’t come true overnight, it takes time. This club has been a family to me since I was eight. This club has given me everything, and I’ve given everything back. I know how much we can achieve together. Time is on our side.”
Martinelli inclusion a "joke"
Gabriel Martinelli has proved a number of people wrong with his sensational form for Arsenal this season and has even made it into Gary Neville's team of the season.
The young Brazilian has enjoyed a campaign of significant development and established himself as one of the most promising young talents in European football. While Martinelli is now viewed as one of Arsenal's best players, he hasn't always been so highly rated by everyone and was actually the subject of ridicule not too long ago.
After being named as a surprise inclusion in the Brazil squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the 22-year-old was the target of a furious rant from former Selecao international Neto, who dubbed the decision to bring the Arsenal ace along as a "joke".
Two clubs eyeing Partey
Arteta is preparing to rebuild his entire Arsenal midfield to get ready for another title challenge next season.
Granit Xhaka has now dropped a major hint that he will quit this summer as he promised an announcement on his future this week with Bayer Leverkusen determined to sign the Switzerland midfielder.
Thomas Partey is also a target for Serie A clubs and Italy could be a next career move for the Ghana midfielder this summer, with two clubs thought to be keen.
Partey, who turns 30 next month, was a key figure in Arsenal ’s title challenge this season but his drop in form during the run-in has only underlined the need for major squad reinforcements.
